Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has urged the Election Commission to extend the deadline for voter registration, citing high public interest and demand.

Speaking with Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ramrasad Bhandari over the phone, PM Karki requested an extension to accommodate the surge in applications following the launch of registration based on national ID details. The Commission reportedly responded positively, indicating a five-day extension is possible.

Since Thursday, a large number of applicants have been registering online, leading to heavy system traffic. PM Karki also expressed concern over technical issues with the registration servers, which the Election Commission is actively working to resolve.
