The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal has officially ended its support for the Lumbini provincial government. Party Chairman Upendra Yadav confirmed the move on Friday, saying, “We were never part of the government, just supporting it from outside but that support ends today.”
Earlier in the day, the party’s only member in the Lumbini Provincial Assembly, Ambika Kafle, personally handed over a letter to Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya, informing him of the decision.
JSP Nepal is also preparing to withdraw support from the central (federal) government. In a recent executive committee meeting, the party decided to end its backing at the national level and directed its parliamentary members to act on the plan.
Yadav mentioned that a meeting of the parliamentary party will be held soon to finalize the next steps.
