The Secretariat meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has been adjourned and is set to resume tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM at the party’s central office in Aloknagar.

In today’s session, Party Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal addressed the accusations made against him, particularly related to the Patanjali land case. According to party Vice-Chairman Jagannath Khatiwada, Nepal submitted a written report and gave a verbal explanation during the opening remarks of the meeting.

Khatiwada stated that the party concluded the allegations were not only targeted at Madhav Nepal personally but were also part of a broader political retaliation against the Unified Socialist party.

During the meeting, provincial in-charges presented updates from their respective provinces. A total of ten members spoke during the session.

Sources say that discussions had been circulating within the party from early morning regarding senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal possibly demanding Madhav Nepal’s resignation over the Patanjali land issue. However, Khanal did not get a chance to speak in today’s meeting. “Whether he raises the issue tomorrow remains to be seen,” the source added.

It should be noted that the Special Court recently released Madhav Nepal on a bail of Rs 3.5 million in connection with alleged corruption in the Patanjali land case.
