Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is all set to visit Spain to attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD-4), organized by the United Nations. The conference will be held in Seville, Spain, from June 30 to July 3 (Asar 16–19).
PM Oli is visiting at the joint invitation of UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. He will lead the Nepali delegation to the conference.
According to Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, the visit is important to promote international cooperation for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Nepal will represent the voices of least developed, small, and island nations during the event.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Paudel Chhetri said the conference will focus on improving global financial systems and addressing challenges related to development finance, investment, and technology transfer. He added that Nepal, currently the chair of the international coordination group of least developed countries, will play a special role in the conference.
PM Oli is scheduled to deliver a speech at the conference and hold meetings with Spanish King Felipe VI, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and other global leaders on the sidelines.The Nepali delegation consists of 29 members — 21 from Kathmandu and 8 from Spain and New York.
PM Oli will leave for Spain on Saturday evening Asar 14 (28June) via Doha and return on Friday evening Asar 20 (July 4). The visit is expected to help attract more investment from developed countries and promote tourism from Spain and other European nations.
