Israeli authorities have tightened the security after three empty buses exploded in Bat Yam, near Tel Aviv, on Thursday night. Police suspect a terror attack, though no one was injured.
Two additional bombs were found but failed to detonate. Officers are searching for more explosives and urging the public to stay alert.
In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered military action against terrorist centers in the occupied West Bank.
Footage on social media showed a burning bus with thick smoke rising. Police spokesperson Aryeh Doron warned that the explosions might have been mistimed and emphasized the need for caution.
Local reports say one of the unexploded bombs carried a message reading "Revenge from Tulkarm," referencing a recent Israeli military raid in the West Bank. Israeli forces have been targeting Palestinian militant groups in Tulkarm and Jenin, resulting in numerous casualties.
As a precaution, Transport Minister Miri Regev suspended all public transportation, including buses, trains, and light rail, for security checks.
