Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said he wants to answer questions about the visit visa issue in Parliament, not just in a committee meeting.

During a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, lawmakers questioned the Home Minister about the ongoing visit visa controversy.

In response, Minister Lekhak said that answering in the committee would not reach all lawmakers, so he requested to be allowed to speak in the full Parliament instead.

The visit visa issue is currently being investigated by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), which is looking into the involvement of some immigration officials at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Opposition parties have demanded the Home Minister’s resignation, saying he is also linked to the case. They have been obstructing Parliament sessions over this issue.

Minister Lekhak said, "Since the CIAA is investigating some officials at the immigration office, and many lawmakers have questions about this, I would prefer to answer in Parliament so that everyone gets a response."
