Despite a Supreme Court interim order barring the implementation of the decision to recall ambassadors, the government has gone ahead and directed them to return to Kathmandu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that letters were sent to the ambassadors, instructing them to report to the ministry.

According to the letter signed by Joint Secretary Surendra Kumar Yadav, the ambassadors have been told to contact the ministry by Thursday, November 6 (Kartik 20), and remain present until further notice.

Earlier, on Sunday, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order instructing the interim government not to enforce its decision to recall ambassadors. However, based on the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister’s decision, the ministry proceeded with the recall directive.

The Cabinet meeting on October 16 (Asoj 30) had decided to recall ambassadors from China, Germany, Malaysia, Israel, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US, and Japan.
