Flood Destroys Micro-Hydropower Dam in Sankhuwasabha

Continuous rainfall has caused flooding in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4, sweeping away the dam of a micro-hydropower project in the Wangkhola area.

The flood completely damaged the main intake of the 8-kilowatt plant located in the remote Gola region, according to police.

The estimated loss is about Rs 3.3 million. A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Daksha Kumar Basnet reached the site on foot, as the area is difficult to access and far from roads.

Police said it takes about two days to reach the location from the district headquarters, Khandbari, so a full assessment of the damage will take more time. Additional details are still being gathered.
