Bus Plunges Off Highway in Jhapa, Injuring 19 Passengers

A passenger bus veered off the East-West Highway near Maidhar Chowk in Shivasatakshi Municipality-10, Jhapa, early Monday, injuring 19 people. The vehicle, bearing number Pra 1-01-001K 4209, fell nearly 10 meters from the road while heading toward Kakarbhitta.

According to DSP Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, the injured were immediately taken to Birta City Hospital in Birtamod for treatment. Of the 25 passengers on board, six managed to escape without injuries.

Police suspect that the accident occurred due to overspeeding. The condition of the injured is reported to be stable, and further investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
