Annapurna Base Camp in Narcyang, Annapurna Rural Municipality-4, has been experiencing heavy snowfall since last night. With a large number of tourists present and limited communication in the area, the risk of emergencies or people getting stranded has increased, officials warned.
In response, a joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has been dispatched via the ‘Maurice Herzog’ route to the base camp, coordinated with the local rural municipality. The rescue team, led by experienced mountain rescuer, is advancing through Narcyang and Humkhola paths to ensure safety.
Authorities have noted that blocked communication and harsh weather conditions make the situation precarious. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted continued rainfall and snowfall in Himalayan regions until Friday.
The district administration has temporarily banned visits to Annapurna Base Camp, while the rural municipality has advised tourists in affected areas including Khopralek, Moharedanda, and Punhill to stay safe and exercise caution.
