Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal (Dol Prasad “DP” Aryal) has emphasized that elected representatives must work with honesty, dedication, and responsibility in line with the trust and expectations of the people.
Addressing the 11th Inter-Legislature Conference held in Tikapur, Sudurpashchim Province, he said that the public had entrusted representatives with the responsibility of leadership and that it was their duty to ensure that public trust is not betrayed.
He said, “The people have entrusted us with the responsibility of representation. It is our duty to work in a way that does not undermine their trust.”
Speaker Aryal stated that coordination, exchange of experiences, and cooperation among provincial assemblies are necessary to strengthen federalism. He also expressed the view that effective time management, the use of digital systems, and the development of a culture of issue-focused discussions are essential to make parliamentary work more effective.
He stressed the need for sufficient consultation with stakeholders in order to make the lawmaking process participatory, transparent, and people oriented. He also highlighted the importance of making parliamentary committee monitoring systematic, transparent, and result oriented.
During the conference, Speaker Aryal handed over a message document to the Speaker of the Sudurpashchim Provincial Assembly. It was also announced that the 12th Inter-Legislature Conference will be held in Karnali Province.
The 11th Inter-Legislature Conference held in Tikapur concluded by issuing a nine-point declaration.
The conference announced several important commitments, including establishing a digital parliament system in all provincial assemblies, operating the Inter-Legislature Forum Secretariat through the Provincial Assembly Coordination Branch under the Federal Parliament Secretariat, making special efforts to establish a legislative institute for capacity building, and advancing the process of establishing a parliamentary budget office.
