Balendra Shah Joins RSP as Senior Leader After Resigning as Kathmandu Mayor

Former Kathmandu Metropolitan City mayor Balendra Shah has formally joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) as a senior leader.

Shah assumed the role on Sunday after reaching the party’s central office in Banasthali, shortly after resigning from his mayoral post. Marking his entry into party politics, he rang the RSP’s election symbol bell at the headquarters. Gen-Z activist Sudan Gurung was also present during the visit.

Shah was welcomed by RSP chair Rabi Lamichhane amid a large gathering of supporters, signaling a high-profile addition to the party’s leadership and a new chapter in Shah’s political journey.
