As the Nepali Congress faces a deepening internal dispute, senior leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala on Saturday urged dialogue to reunite the party. Speaking in Sanepa, he stressed that differences should not lead to a permanent split. “We should not let the party break apart. It can come together again, and it must,” he said.
Koirala attended a meeting of the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led faction, while leaders from his own faction were also present, showing continued cross-faction engagement.
The call for dialogue comes a day after the Election Commission recognized Gagan Thapa’s central working committee, elected at the party’s special general convention, a decision rejected by the Deuba faction.
Parallel meetings are scheduled for both factions, highlighting the ongoing power struggle. The Nepali Congress now faces a key test: whether internal dialogue can heal divisions or the dispute will deepen further.
