At least 20 people were injured in an explosion caused by an instructor’s negligence at a police training center in the Komi Republic of western Russia.

 

According to preliminary details released by the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred at the training center in the city of Syktyvkar when a stun grenade exploded, triggering a fire. The injured trainees suffered burns to different parts of their bodies and respiratory tracts, along with symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

 

All the injured are undergoing treatment at a local hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable. The ministry has termed the incident as gross negligence by the instructor and has registered a criminal case against him, launching a detailed investigation.
