Kathmandu Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol Assumes Acting Mayor Role

Following the resignation of Mayor Balendra Shah, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol has officially taken on the responsibilities of acting mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Under the Local Government Operation Act, 2074, the deputy mayor automatically assumes the role when the mayor’s post becomes vacant. Shah resigned on Sunday to focus on contesting the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5. Dangol formally received his resignation and will now oversee the city’s administration until a new mayor is elected or Shah returns.
