Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, who has been taking strict action against corrupt individuals, fraudsters, and criminals, revealed that he himself was deceived in the Fewa Lake land case in Pokhara.

While carrying out a campaign with Pokhara Metropolitan City to remove structures built on encroached land near Fewa Lake, following the Supreme Court’s order, Minister Gurung discovered that the land he had leased was also within the encroached area.

Gurung, along with three partners, plans to pursue legal action, stating that the landowner had hidden the fact that the leased land was encroached, thereby deceiving them.

Around 8–10 years ago, with the aim of promoting adventure tourism along the shores of Fewa Lake, Gurung and three young entrepreneurs established “Adventure Sports Nepal.”

“We started this venture with great investment and dreams, driven by the energy and determination to do something meaningful in our country. Before leasing the land, the landowners assured us that it did not fall within the 65-meter standard and showed that the land was secure on official records. But later, we learned from the municipality that it actually fell within the standard,” Minister Gurung said.

Upon realizing they had been deceived, they immediately halted all work. “As soon as we became aware that the land was leased to us through deception, I immediately stopped all construction and investment on moral grounds. The manipulation affecting our dreams and investments as young entrepreneurs is unacceptable,” he added.

Minister Gurung confirmed that he is preparing to pursue strict legal action against this fraud. “Against this injustice and deception that has affected us, we will move forward with legal proceedings without any hesitation, and I want to make this known to everyone,” he said.
