Nearly 4,000 personnel will be deployed in Baglung district for the House of Representatives election on March 5.
The District Election Office in Baglung said a total of 3,995 people will be involved, including 1,935 security personnel and 2,060 election staff. Security will be provided by the Nepal Police, Election Police, Armed Police Force (APF), and the Nepal Army, depending on the needs.
Baglung Superintendent of Police Tilak Bharati said 637 Nepal Police and 1,298 Election Police will ensure election security. The Nepal Police will guard polling stations and ballot boxes, while the APF and Army will handle outer security. The exact number of APF and Army personnel is not being shared for security reasons. A mobile police team will be ready to respond quickly to any incident. With the Army and APF on standby, voters can cast their ballots safely.
For election work, 2,060 staff including polling officers, assistant polling officers, and support staff will be deployed at 107 polling stations and 230 polling centers. According to Gokul Sharma, Information Officer at the District Election Office, this includes 230 polling officers, 230 assistant polling officers, and 1,610 support staff, with about seven staff members per polling center. Civil servants will get priority for polling duties, and teachers will be hired where needed.
Because of security concerns, voter distribution, and accessibility, one polling center has been added, one polling station removed, and two polling centers relocated.
Baglung has 193,381 registered voters 94,806 men and 98,574 women across 10 local levels. A total of 23 candidates are competing for two House of Representatives seats.
