Senior UML leader Prithvi Subba Gurung has claimed that party chairman KP Sharma Oli is certain to win in Jhapa constituency number 5.
Speaking at a Press Chautari Nepal program in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Gurung criticized Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Balen Shah, citing his controversial actions in Kathmandu, including using bulldozers against squatter settlements. He warned Jhapa residents not to believe Shah’s promise to provide land ownership certificates (Lal Purja), calling it misleading.
Gurung added that Shah’s candidacy was designed to create internal tension within UML and weaken the party’s campaign. He emphasized that voters are looking for experienced parties with reforms, not just new faces, and reiterated his confidence that KP Oli will secure victory in Jhapa–5.
