Police Role Crucial to Ensure Free, Fair Elections: PM Karki

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the role of the police is crucial and sensitive in ensuring free, fair and credible elections. Addressing the graduation ceremony of Nepal Police inspectors in Kathmandu on Monday, she described the upcoming Falgun 21 election as an important milestone in Nepal’s democratic journey. She directed security agencies to carry out their duties impartially, rising above political influence, pressure and prejudice.

Prime Minister Karki said the longstanding activities of the Nepal Police have strengthened trust between the police and the community, adding that the impartiality of security forces serves as a protective shield for democracy. She also stressed that in the face of emerging challenges such as cybercrime, organized crime, financial crime and transnational crime, police inspectors must move beyond merely following orders and develop themselves as effective problem-solvers.
