The counting of votes cast for the new leadership of the CPN-UML is set to begin this morning, according to Election Commission Vice-Chairman Sanuraj Pokharel.

 

Of the 2,263 delegates eligible to vote at the party’s 11th General Convention, 2,227 delegates cast their ballots, while 36 were absent, resulting in a 98.04 percent voter turnout. Election officials said some delegates were unable to participate due to health reasons, while others did not take part in the voting process.

 

The leadership contest features panels led by KP Sharma Oli and Ishwor Pokharel, as the party moves toward finalizing its new leadership team.
