The Election Commission (EC) has released a new booklet called the “Civic Education Promotion Resource Booklet for Election Programs.” It is mainly prepared for social studies teachers and is designed to help them teach students about elections in an easy and practical way. The booklet is based on the idea that spreading election education and information is essential for free and fair elections, and it is available on the Commission’s official website.

The Election Education Resource Booklet, 2082 contains seven chapters, each covering an important aspect of elections. The first chapter explains the concepts of democracy and the Constitution, while the second chapter discusses election laws and political parties. The third chapter focuses on the electoral system, different types of elections, and the importance of including everyone in the voting process. The fourth chapter describes the election process in detail, including the timeline, how to vote, the “No Vote” option, and the counting of votes.

The fifth chapter provides information about the election management bodies and the laws that guide them, while the sixth chapter emphasizes the importance of following the election code of conduct and explains how elections are monitored and supervised. The seventh and final chapter highlights the roles of various election stakeholders, the rights and duties of citizens, the role of teachers in election education, and visits to election education and information centers.

Overall, the booklet is intended to help teachers and students understand elections better and to encourage responsible and active participation in the democratic process.
