Hearing Scheduled Today in Cooperative Fraud Case Against Rabi Lamichhane

A hearing has been scheduled for today in the case involving Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane and former Gorkha Media Managing Director Chhabilal Joshi, who are currently in judicial custody on charges of cooperative fraud and organized crime.

According to Ram Bahadur Kuwar, Information Officer at the Butwal High Court, the case has been listed for hearing today. The hearing could not proceed last week due to procedural reasons, while on two earlier occasions, proceedings were halted after petitions were filed by Lamichhane’s legal team.

Lamichhane is in custody in connection with the Supreme Cooperative fraud case in Butwal. Despite depositing the amount allegedly misappropriated, the Rupandehi District Court, in an order issued on August 26, declined to release him on bail.

Challenging that decision, Lamichhane filed an appeal at the High Court on September 9, seeking relief from detention.
