The U.S. Embassy has praised Nepal’s peaceful transition after last week’s unrest, pledging support to the interim government led by Sushila Karki.

After days of unrest, the United States has voiced support for Nepal’s return to calm and the formation of an interim government.
In a statement on Sunday, the U.S. Embassy said it is ready to work closely with the new administration as the country heads toward elections. The Embassy also praised President Ram Chandra Paudel and youth leaders for choosing dialogue and democracy, while extending condolences for the lives lost.
It further credited the Nepali Army and Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel for helping restore stability and ensuring a smooth transition of power.
Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki assumed office as interim Prime Minister on Friday.
