The CPN-UML’s Organisation Department has instructed party units to charge no more than Rs 1,000 as the candidacy fee for selecting delegates to the party’s upcoming 11th General Convention. The directive follows reports that some districts had set excessively high registration fees.

According to Organisation Department chief and Standing Committee member Kashinath Adhikari, the five-point instruction, issued during a virtual meeting on Monday evening, also requires all units to publish the final voter list before starting the selection process. Districts must submit their voter numbers to the central department.

The party has asked all committees to try for consensus until Mangsir 12, and if that fails, to conduct delegate selection on Mangsir 13 across Nepal and abroad.

Leaders assigned to oversee the process have been told to reach their designated areas on time to support smooth facilitation.

The UML’s 11th General Convention will take place in Kathmandu from Mangsir 27 to 29, with an estimated 2,200 delegates expected to participate.
