The Bagmati Corridor from Gokarna to Balkhu is set for a major safety upgrade, with plans to install modern streetlights and an advanced CCTV system along the riverbanks.

The High-Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee said the move aims to tackle waste dumping, unauthorized activities, and growing security concerns in the area. A tender has already been announced to select contractors for the project.

The plan includes 120 weather-resistant cameras with day-and-night capability, monitored from the Kathmandu Valley Police Office. Likewise, 567 smart streetlights, 48 floodlights, and 6 high-mast floodlights will be installed to brighten dark sections.

Officials say the new system will support the Bagmati Cleanup Campaign and help create a safer, more orderly environment along the corridor.
