The Secretariat of Prime Minister Sushila Karki has dismissed media reports questioning recent staff appointments, stressing that the PM operates with a small, transparent, and accountable team. Press Coordinator Ram Bahadur Rawal said the Chief Personal Secretary is appointed directly by the Prime Minister as per procedure, allowing her to choose trusted personnel especially necessary as both the PM and her husband are elderly and require close support.
The Secretariat rejected allegations of nepotism, calling them baseless, and clarified that shared surnames or ethnic backgrounds do not indicate family ties. It also noted that the PM has appointed far fewer staff than permitted: only two advisors out of seven allowed, four personnel out of 19 authorised posts, and a total of 20 staff out of 67 positions.
