US President Donald Trump has again criticized European leaders as “weak” and suggested that the US might reduce support for Ukraine if Europe does not take a stronger role in ending the Russia-Ukraine war, BBC reported.
He accused European nations of failing to manage migration and letting Kyiv bear the brunt of the conflict, while urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to consider territorial concessions for peace.
Trump’s remarks follow a recent European summit in London aimed at coordinating efforts to stop the fighting. He claimed Ukrainian negotiators supported a US-backed peace plan, while Zelensky emphasized ongoing coordination with Europe and readiness to hold elections if security allows.
European officials responded sharply, defending their role in supporting Kyiv and insisting Europe can handle its own challenges. Trump also criticized Europe’s immigration policies, warning that some nations could become nonviable if current trends continue.
The comments come alongside the US National Security Strategy, which questioned Europe’s reliability as allies and highlighted ideological divisions and migration challenges.
