Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the president of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), recently said that the trinational electricity trade agreement signed between Nepal, India, and Bangladesh is a key step forward for the country.
In a meeting with officials from the Independent Power Producers' Association of Nepal (IPPAN), he shared his thoughts, recalling that when he was Prime Minister, he worked hard to secure this deal with India. Prachanda described it as a significant move for the nation's future, saying, "This agreement is a cornerstone for our country's prosperity." He believes that by increasing hydroelectric production, Nepal will be able to sell electricity to countries like India, China, and Bangladesh, which could help make the country more prosperous.
He also stressed that there’s no turning back from this path, emphasizing that Nepal should focus on boosting electricity production in order to implement the agreement to export power to Bangladesh through India and sell 10,000 megawatts of electricity to India over the next ten years.
