Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, will suspend all government health insurance treatment services starting Magh 1, citing delays and underpayment from the Health Insurance Board.

The hospital said patient numbers under the insurance program have increased, but the Board has reimbursed only 50 percent of claimed amounts, leaving an outstanding balance of around Rs. 400 million. With monthly expenses of Rs. 50 million and a shortfall of Rs. 20 million covered from hospital funds, continuing the program has become financially unsustainable.

The hospital urged all concerned to note that all services under the government health insurance program will be halted until the issue is resolved.
