Deliberations on party policies, leadership and constitutional amendments are set to take center stage today as the Nepali Congress holds the closed session of its second special general convention at Bhrikutimandap.
The special general convention, which began on Sunday, concluded its inaugural session on the first day, with Monday designated for the closed session, according to the party. The closed session is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., said publicity committee coordinator Subash Pokhrel.
Nine discussion groups will be formed to deliberate on four key issues—constitutional amendment, policy and leadership, governance reform, and contemporary matters. Following the discussions, the convention will hold a broader debate on whether changes are needed in the party leadership.
If a leadership change is endorsed, an election committee will be formed to move the process forward. Party officials have indicated that the new working committee could also be elected unopposed.
Meanwhile, registration of general convention delegates will continue until 11 a.m., with many delegates arriving from various districts this morning, according to coordination committee coordinator Yubaraj Pandey.
