'Transport Sector to Undergo A Massive Transformation'

The government’s policies and programs for the fiscal 2025-26 have something new for the transport sector as well. 

Reading out the policies and programs, President Ram Chandra Paudel stated that the government will expand roads, railways and and waterways as arteries.  

“Major highways will be developed and upgraded making them part of inter-country road networks,” President Paudel stated, adding that development and expansion of railways will continue.

The government also plans to introduce National Transport Policy, Public Vehicles and Transport Management Act, Public Roads Act and Road Safety Act. 

For reducing road accidents, the condition of roads will be improved, passenger-oriented awareness program will be conducted and drivers will be made (more) responsible by enhancing their skills, states the policy document.
