Agricultural Blueprint: Graduation from Subsistence to Self-Sufficiency

The policies and programs for the fiscal year 2025-26 have envisioned a small revolution of sorts in the agricultural sector. 

Per the policy document, the government will introduce a digital system to make farm services accessible and transparent. Through machination and specialization, the document aims to transform subsistent agriculture, making the country self-reliant on farm yields. 

Restructuring of the Nepal Agricultural Research Council so as to make it farmer-friendly and result-oriented and upgradation of quarantine and lab services are also part of the plan. 

What’s more, the plan entails manufacturing vaccines needed for animals and poultry within the country and production as well as export of milk, milk-based products and meat-based products.
