The South Korean National Assembly is set to vote on Saturday at 4 p.m. on the second impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk Yeol. The timing was adjusted to avoid potential clashes during nighttime rallies near the Assembly.
To pass, the motion requires the support of at least two-thirds of the 300 lawmakers, or 200 votes, during the secret ballot. This creates uncertainty about whether any members of President Yoon's ruling People Power Party (PPP) will break ranks to support the impeachment.
As the Assembly prepares for the vote, PPP floor leader Kweon Seong-dong has stated that the party will finalize its position on Saturday, further adding to the anticipation surrounding the outcome.
The decision holds significant implications for South Korea's political landscape and the administration of President Yoon.
