At least seven people died after an electric microbus returning from the Manakamana Temple met with an accident on Saturday in Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality.
The microbus, with registration number Bagmati Province 006 Kha 8430, fell around 200 meters down a cliff near Kantar in the rural municipality. Police said there were 14 passengers in the vehicle.
Seven people died at the scene of the accident. The other seven passengers were injured and rescued before being taken to hospital for treatment.
After the accident, local residents and police quickly reached the site and started rescue operations. However, rescue work was difficult because of the steep and challenging terrain.
Police said the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, and the identities of those who died and were injured have not been confirmed yet.
