Police have revealed that the robbery at the Nepal SBI Bank in Hayutar, Ghyanglekh-2, Sindhuli, on January 13 was planned with the help of the house owner. Sindhuli District Police arrested seven people in connection with the case, including 44-year-old Chhabilal Syangtan, the property owner. The robbery took place around 7:45 pm.
According to Sindhuli DSP Surya Prakash Subedi, all seven suspects were involved in the heist. The group also included 49-year-old Bhagwat Singh Thapa from Banepa, 47-year-old Chaturman Bajju from Ghyanglekh, 24-year-old Shashank Shrestha from Bharatpur, 23-year-old Milan Giri from Panchakanya-5, 19-year-old Bibek Magar, and a 16-year-old minor. Police recovered Rs 26,855,000 from the robbery. The guns and knives used in the heist were fake, made of plastic.
DSP Subedi said Syangtan played a key role by organizing the weapons and providing information about the area around the bank. The robbery plan was reportedly made as early as September, with Syangtan and Chaturman Bajju scouting the bank and arranging logistics. Investigations show the robbers first traveled from Kathmandu to Sindhuli on motorcycles on January 7 but returned without acting. On January 13, they met in Koteshwor, Kathmandu, went to Banepa, and hired a Tata Sumo to carry out the robbery.
