The CPN-UML has called a meeting of its Central Secretariat to finalize its candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives elections on March 5.

Meen Bahadur Shahi, coordinator of the party’s Publicity and Publication Department, said the meeting will take place at the party’s central office on Saturday at 1 pm.

The party is preparing to approve its candidate list ahead of the nomination schedule on January 20, which covers all 165 constituencies. Candidates were already suggested by UML’s constituency, district, and provincial committees.

Around 35 leaders, including party chairman KP Sharma Oli, have been recommended as candidates. Since no election alliances have been decided yet, UML plans to field candidates under its Sun symbol in all constituencies.

Shahi said finalizing the candidates on Saturday will give those from faraway areas enough time to reach their constituencies and complete the nomination process. The previous Central Committee meeting had assigned the Secretariat the task of finalizing the candidates for the elections.
