A scooter rider was killed and a motorcyclist was injured after a tipper truck hit them near Kamalbinayak bus park in Bhaktapur on Thursday.
Police said the accident happened when a motorcycle going from Kamalbinayak toward Chyamasing lost control and fell on the road. The fallen motorcycle then hit a scooter that was traveling in the same direction.
Soon after, a tipper truck coming from behind ran into the scooter, causing serious injuries to the scooter rider.
The scooter rider, 26-year-old Bimal Banmala of Bhaktapur Municipality-8, was rushed to Bhaktapur Hospital but died during treatment, police said.
The injured motorcyclist, 24-year-old Rajesh Banmala of Inachok, Bhaktapur Municipality-7, is receiving treatment at B&B Hospital in Lalitpur.
Police arrested the tipper driver, 25-year-old Rajkumar Majhi from Sindhupalchok, after he tried to escape from the scene. An investigation is ongoing, and all three vehicles involved have been taken to the Jagati Police Circle for further investigation.
