Lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) once again boycotted the House of Representatives meeting on Saturday, continuing their protest against Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

The RSP has been demanding the minister’s resignation and the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee over the visit visa scandal. At today’s meeting, which began at noon, RSP lawmakers stood in protest for nearly two hours before walking out.

Despite their protest, Speaker Devraj Ghimire proceeded with the budget discussions. The RSP lawmakers left the chamber after Nepali Congress spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat began his speech. Following their exit, Mahat sarcastically remarked, “It’s not easy to stand for so long.”

RSP lawmakers have been obstructing parliamentary proceedings since May 26, pressing for accountability from the Home Minister, who is linked to the controversial visa case.
