On the occasion of the third anniversary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), party president Rabi Lamichhane released a heartfelt written message from Rupandehi District Jail in Bhairahawa on Asar 7.

In his statement, Lamichhane expressed deep emotions and frustration, saying conspiracies against him were still ongoing. He claimed that all state mechanisms, the executive, legislative, and judiciary, were under the control of a certain group, leaving him with no place to seek justice except the “people’s court.”

“The conspiracies against me are far from over. Over the past 36 years since 2046 BS, the ruling group has captured every arm of the state, government, courts, and even the media,” he wrote. “When they’ve turned the whole country into a prison, why should I complain about being jailed myself?”

Reflecting on his life, Lamichhane said he never imagined joining politics. He recalled his early media career and even his move to the U.S. in search of a better life. Despite some success there, he said his heart was never truly happy.

“I never thought I’d enter politics. I started my career in media during my student years and had already become a known face on TV and FM radio,” he wrote. “Later, I went to the U.S. hoping for a better life. I stayed connected with the Nepali community there but never found peace. Fourteen years passed like an exile.”

He shared that he wanted to set a world record for the longest-running TV talk show, and although he could’ve done it from the U.S., something inside told him to return to Nepal, which he did. That’s how he ended up registering his name in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Through his message, Lamichhane tried to connect not just as a political leader, but as a son, a brother, and a regular citizen, expressing personal reflections and his journey from media to politics, from success to struggle.
