11th International Yoga Day is being celebrated across Nepal and the globe today with the theme “Yoga for Humanity and Health of the Earth.” The day is marked by yoga sessions, public demonstrations, and awareness programs aimed at promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
In Kathmandu, a special event was held at Narayan Chaur, Naxal, where participants from organizations like Yoga Bhumi Nepal and the Ward 16 Yoga Sadhana Center of Lalitpur performed various yoga postures and breathing exercises. Similar events took place in other parts of the country, reflecting the growing popularity of yoga among all age groups.
Nepal has been observing Yoga Day since 2015, following the United Nations' declaration of June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014. Each year, participation continues to increase as more people embrace yoga for its holistic health benefits.
Globally, the day is celebrated with large-scale yoga gatherings in parks, community centers, and iconic landmarks in countries like India, the United States, Australia, and across Europe. India, being the birthplace of yoga, hosts massive yoga sessions led by political leaders and spiritual figures, promoting global unity and wellness.
Yoga, an ancient practice rooted in Indian tradition, is now widely recognized for its ability to reduce stress, improve flexibility, and bring balance to life. International Yoga Day serves as a global reminder of the importance of inner peace, healthy living, and harmony with nature.
