A protest has been staged at the Thapathali squatter settlement on Friday against the government's decision to evict the settlement, with demonstrators demanding an end to what they called "bulldozer terror" under the cover of state power.

The protest was organized by the National Gen Z Civil Campaign, bringing together local residents and Gen Z youth who gathered at the settlement to voice their opposition.

Carrying placards and chanting slogans, the protesters raised several demands. A young woman from Gen Z participating in the protest said that the government's use of bulldozer terror against landless squatters under the cover of state power was unjust. She further stated that although the constitution guarantees the right to housing, the government was "running a bulldozer through the heart of the constitution."

Another young protester accused the government of repeating the mistakes of older political parties. She said, "Just as the old political parties used landless squatters as a vote bank, this government too appears to be adopting the same old political culture." She added that the government's action was a violation of human rights, as the constitution guarantees every citizen the right to housing and the right to live with dignity. "Therefore," she concluded, "this government is running a bulldozer through the heart of the constitution.
