This year, World Immunization Week is being celebrated from April 24 to 30 across the globe with different public awareness activities.
The slogan for this year is "For Every Generation, Vaccines Work," which conveys the message that vaccines are effective and life-saving for every generation. Through vaccines, people of all age groups, from children to the elderly, can be protected from diseases.
Vaccines play a significant role in strengthening public health by protecting communities from preventable diseases. It is said that getting vaccinated on time not only protects an individual but also their family and society at large.
In this context, the World Health Organization (WHO) and various health partner organizations are conducting programs to promote vaccination and enhance public awareness.
Additionally, this year the vaccine community will also specially commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the World Health Organization's Expanded Programme on Immunization.
The main objective of World Immunization Week is to raise public awareness about vaccine-preventable diseases while ensuring access to vaccination services for as many people as possible.
Health workers have urged everyone to get vaccinated on time with the message: "Get vaccinated, protect every generation."
