During Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) staged a silent and unique protest. Instead of chanting slogans or blocking proceedings like before, they sat cross-legged and quietly read books inside the parliament chamber.
The House is currently debating ministry-wise headings under the Appropriation Bill 2025. While members from both ruling and opposition parties took part in the discussions, RSP lawmakers used their silent protest to continue pressing for the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and a parliamentary investigation into the visit visa scandal.
At the same time, another opposition party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), chose to walk out of the session in protest at the start of the meeting.
