Amid rising reports of fraudulent donation drives, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has warned against the misuse of Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s name for illegal fundraising activities.

In a statement issued on Monday, OPMCM spokesperson and joint secretary Ravilal Sharma said that certain individuals and groups have been requesting donations and financial support in the name of the Prime Minister and her office for various social and development projects.

“The Prime Minister and the Office of the Prime Minister have not authorized anyone to collect donations or contributions on their behalf,” the statement clarified. “The public is advised not to believe or engage in such deceptive activities.”

The PMO emphasized that anyone found involved in such acts would be brought under legal scrutiny. It also appealed to citizens to report such incidents to the nearest police or administrative office immediately.

Furthermore, Nepalis residing abroad have been asked to inform their nearest diplomatic missions or the Prime Minister’s Office if they come across similar unauthorized activities in foreign countries.
