Probe Deepens into Tribhuvan University Land Misuse

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is preparing to take firm action against the misuse of Tribhuvan University (TU) land, following a probe into long-term illegal occupation of university property.

At a press conference on Monday, newly appointed Minister Mahabir Pun said the ministry will act on the findings of the committee investigating the issue. He stated that cases beyond the ministry’s jurisdiction would be forwarded to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for further action.

Pun acknowledged that the committee’s report was incomplete and emphasized the need for a more thorough investigation, announcing plans to form a new committee based on existing recommendations.

He further revealed that complaints have also surfaced about land encroachment at Sudurpaschim University, adding that a separate team will be formed to look into those claims.
