Nepali Congress General Secretary Pradeep Paudel has called for an end to the criticism of the private sector.
Speaking at the “Economic Agenda in Party Manifestos” program organized by the Nepal Economic Journalists’ Association (NAFIJ) in Kathmandu, Paudel emphasized that political parties should not view profit-making within the legal framework negatively. He said Nepali Congress has prepared a “10-point manifesto” to focus on actionable economic policies rather than lofty promises.
Paudel highlighted the need to generate employment in emerging sectors and integrate new industries into the economy. He stressed that digitization is crucial to reducing corruption and improving governance, urging all levels of government to operate digitally.
He stated, “Only through digitizing the economy can corruption be minimized. Administrative systems must be digital to reduce bureaucracy, allowing more work with fewer resources and ensuring transparency. Simply expanding administrative layers does not guarantee good governance or easier public services.”
Paudel also noted that national development cannot rely on minimal capital expenditure. Production must be led by the private sector, and laws should be business-friendly. He called on political parties to listen to the private sector and adopt policies that support economic growth.
