A meeting of the House of Representatives’ Industry, Commerce, Labour, and Consumer Welfare Committee turned heated after Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli raised the issue of the ongoing visit visa scandal, questioning the role of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
Parajuli claimed all state institutions were complicit in deceiving the public and demanded discussion on the Home Ministry and immigration authorities. Nepali Congress MP Raju Thapa objected, urging him to stick to the agenda.
The situation escalated when CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Krishna Kumar Shrestha angrily confronted Parajuli, accusing RSP of acting like the sole voice against wrongdoing. “We’ve raised our voices too,” Shrestha said, banging the table and criticizing Parajuli for undermining other parties’ efforts.
Despite repeated calls from Committee Chair Abdul Khan to stay on topic, Parajuli insisted the meeting should not move forward without the Home Minister’s presence.
The committee meeting ended in tension, reflecting rising political friction over the growing visit visa controversy.
