North Korea claims to have successfully launched a warship on its second attempt.
About a month ago, the first launch attempt failed, and the 5,000-ton warship sank. This was reported by the BBC, quoting North Korea's state media.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was angry about the failed launch in May and demanded quick repairs. Because of this failure, at least four officials, including three shipyard officers and one senior officer, were arrested.
But experts are still unsure if the repairs are really complete. Kim and his daughter Kim Ju-ae inspected the launch at Rajin Port in the north of the country, according to North Korea's state news agency KCNA.
This warship is one of two new 5,000-ton destroyers North Korea built last year and started launching from April.
According to KCNA, Kim said the initial failed launch did not slow down North Korea’s military modernization program.
