Tulsipur, Nepal – Authorities have confirmed that 101 inmates who escaped from Tulsipur prison during the recent Gen-Z protests have returned to custody, with an additional 12 prisoners currently in contact with officials.
Jailer Girbahadur Sijwal stated that a total of 253 prisoners had fled the facility during the unrest. “Many inmates have come back voluntarily after public notices were issued, while efforts continue to locate the remaining escapees,” he added.
The initial day of the protests saw 124 prisoners escape, followed by 129 more on the second day. Prison authorities are intensifying search operations to ensure all remaining fugitives are apprehended.
The return of the inmates marks a significant step in restoring order at the Tulsipur prison and stabilizing the situation after the widespread disturbances triggered by the Gen-Z movement.
