Kathmandu – President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to three newly appointed ministers of the interim government at Sheetal Niwas on Monday.

On the recommendation of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Rameshwor Khanal has assumed the post of Finance Minister, Kulman Ghising has taken charge of Energy, Water Resources, Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure, Transport, and Urban Development, while Om Prakash Aryal has been sworn in as Minister for Home Affairs, Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

With this, the Council of Ministers under Prime Minister Karki has expanded to four members.

Khanal, a veteran economist and former finance secretary, previously headed the High-Level Economic Reform Recommendation Commission. Ghising, credited with ending nationwide load-shedding during his tenure at the Nepal Electricity Authority, was recently removed from his post by the KP Sharma Oli-led government. Aryal, a lawyer known for his anti-corruption advocacy, had served as legal advisor to Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

The appointment marks the interim government’s first major step in shaping its leadership team.
